ABOUT MY WORK
What does it mean for the mind, when lines constitute nothing but themselves? When they don’t form a familiar image or linguistic symbols, when their only purpose is to exist? I believe that it means freedom. It's an opportunity for the individual mind to reveal itself, to observe and imagine without any borders of right or wrong, to simply be.
I explore rhythm and balance within linear compositions. My dynamic graphical works tend to oscillate between pace and precision, revealing a diversity of density and transparency. By means of surface, form, structure, proportion and colour I aim to create a broad repertoire of linear arrangements.
Each drawn line is a spontaneous, yet intended gesture, linking into a formation of interweaving and correlating strokes, which give an impression of continuous flow, where all lines seem to endlessly merge and diverge. What at first might appear as a harmonious picture, can upon closer look reveal a vibrant array of layered transparence.
My intention is to look beyond the descriptive nature of drawing and my aim is to approach the making and perception of my work through sensation and imagination. Therefore I remain completely abstract, to enable an open-minded perception and individual interaction with the artwork. My process of image making arises from a fascination for unconventional, non-verbal human expression.
